Pitcher Plant (Sarracenia purpurea) is a carnivorous plant that traps insects in specialized leaves adapted to hold water. Insects are prevented from climbing out by downward pointing hairs and are digested by the plant for their nutrients which are scarce in the acidic environments where this plant is found.
